Video Card Test Ubuntu

Resolution / Graphics Problems – Ubuntu 8.04

New installation, old video card is a card Permedia2 3Dlabs. Ubuntu seems to recognize is fine, but I'm stuck in 800×600 and it seems like maybe 16-bit color. I go to Display> Graphics others and> the monitor is plug and play, so choose my monitor dell E773c, gives option for other resolutions. No matter what you pick, i select the test if I have proof of configuration failed. I have tried dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg all I get is a title that says "Setting up xserver-xorg" in red and a red block at the bottom of the terminal. I'm lost at this time. Any help or guidance would be appreciated.

open a command line (terminal window) xorgconfig Run. This is a manual configuration X11 can also edit the file / etc/X11/xorg.conf … search monitor resolution and color depth settings and change them manually. I suggest you make a copy of / etc/X11/xorg.conf before you start … that way you can always copy the file again if you have problems.
