Replacing Video Card Macbook Pro

MacBook Pro acting up? What are my options?
MacBook Pro 17″ 2.33ghz 2 gig ram Raedon ATI 1600 256mb
was bought 2 years ago?
My problem is that when I play a game or sometimes even watching a movie all of a sudden it will freeze up for a bit then unfreeze. sometimes when it unfreezes I start having crackling and stuff in my sound until I reboot. I have tested it and had friends test it and the mem and everything seems to be working fine.. says certain programs. I cant really afford to take it to apple because they charge an arm and leg. It has to be mem, video card or mother board? anyone have an idea? and if so how much would replacing cost? and is it possible to find someone besides apple to do it? Any feedback would be appreciated
Thanks! oh and sometimes it plays fine! so I don’t know!
Oh and I even did a fresh reformat and it still does it.
Get out the DVD that came with your MacBook Pro, and start up from it by restarting while holding down the “C” key, and run the Apple Hardware Test software. That will help determine if it is indeed hardware related, and if so, what hardware may be involved.
Demonstrates the value of AppleCare. It is almost always a “waste of money” considering Apple’s Quality, but in those few cases where it pays for these rare occurances, it is pure gold for it’s cost.
It paid for itself on my previous MacBook Pro, just in Bulging Battery replacements.
If it is major hardware problems, you have a good excuse for getting yourself a new Mac earlier than you had planned …
Hope this helps.
